Port Aransas Wildlife Cover Photo Contest Entry

Image & Sumbission Rules:
Submissions can be made after 8am on March 20, 2025 and will not be taken after June 20, 2025.

Port Aransas Wildlife is not responsible for lost, late, or misdirected entries, server unavailability, computer, or any other electronic malfunction

Participants must be the copyright holder of the photos they submit
Photos must be submitted by the original photographer.
Composites or A.I. influenced photos will be disqualified
Image files must be at least 3MB and less than 10MB
.jpg .jpeg images only
Native plants/wildlife are preferred
Images should be vertical
Images must be sharply focused 
All photos must be captured in and around Port Aransas (includes N. Padre & Harbor Island)
All wildlife photographed must be captured in nature free of human interaction or interference
All the photos submitted may be displayed on the website.

I have obtained permission from any/all people or the parent/guardian of the person captured within the photo. 

By entering, entrants represent and warrant (I) that they own the picture submitted, and (II) it does not violate the rights of any third parties.  

No lewd, nude, crude, or offensive photographs (as determined by Port Aransas Wildlife and business owner Alpha Omega in its sole and absolute discretion) will be accepted.  Port Aransas Wildlife and business owner Alpha Omega reserve the right in its sole and absolute discretion to disqualify any entry.

Odds of winning depend on the number of valid entries received.

This contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations and is void where prohibited. Port Aransas Wildlife and business owner Alpha Omega accepts no responsibility or liability in connection with any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by or resulting from the acceptance, possession or use of any prize awarded hereunder.

Port Aransas Wildlife and business owner Alpha Omega cannot be held liable for any lost or stolen entries, prizes, or contest information. Port Aransas Wildlife and business owner Alpha Omega is not responsible for any computer or electronic malfunction, server unavailability, technological glitch, or human error relating to this contest and/or the use of short-code.

Port Aransas Wildlife and business owner Alpha Omega reserves the right to make rules and contest changes, and change the aforementioned contest dates.

By entering this contest, each entrant waives any and all claims of liability against the Port Aransas Wildlife and their respective parents, affiliates, officers, directors, employees and agents, for any and all claims, loss, damage or injury that may occur as a result of entrant’s participation in this contest.

By submitting photos to this contest the photographer is granting permission for the Port Aransas Wildlife and business owner Alpha Omega to use the photos in any future promotions or outreach in print and digital formats.

JUDGING

Judging of Photos will take place the week after the photo contest entry close date of June 15th.  

Winners will be announced on Social Media and the website.  

Judging differs based on the number entries.

If over 100 entries are submitted, a three judge panel will convene to rate the entries using the formula listed below and trim to the top 100.

At this point a new panel of five judges will be convened and advised to take special care to inspect each image to determine the following:

Overall quality
Sharpness
Lighting
Color and saturation
Originality and creativity  
Wow! factor
Composition
Degree of difficulty

Each image will be ranked based on each of these metrics from 1-10, 10 being best
After each image is ranked and totalled, the winner will be determined.  Winners will be announced in late June.

Prizes

1st Place: Your picture on the cover of the 2025 edition of Port Aransas Wildlife with photo credit, $100 minimum Cash or 20% of Contest Entry Pool (whichever is higher) and $100 Gift Credit to Port Aransas Wildlife Shop ( www.portaransaswildlife.shop )

2nd Place: $50 minimum Cash or 10% of Contest Entry Pool (whichever is higher) $50 Gift Credit to Port Aransas Wildlife Shop  ( www.portaransaswildlife.shop )

3rd Place: $50 Gift Credit to Port Aransas Wildlife Shop ( www.portaransaswildlife.shop )

Note: Besides business as usual, we want to use this brand/platform to support the star of this show, Wildlife found locally.  For this reason, some of the $$$ from this photo contest will be used to support local groups that help wildlife here in Port Aransas like the Amos Rehabilitation Keep for helping sick and injured sea turtles and shorebirds, and Keep Port Aransas Beautiful for working to maintain debris-free habitat where wildlife can rest and forage safely.
